Bio-dynamic Craniosacral Therapist
I first encountered Craniosacral therapy in the early 1990’s: I was a passenger in a car being given a lift back from a day of psychotherapy training at the Chiron Institute in Ealing London. We were involved in a shunt accident - I had a minor whiplash injury and a strange feeling of being in front of myself. My training at Chiron was a body oriented psychotherapy and we were taught anatomy by Michael Kern, one of the first teachers of Craniosacral work in the UK. What he had told us about this therapy in between anatomy sessions sounded just what I needed to resolve my whiplash and weird out of body feeling - so I found a practitioner and went for a session. In the session the therapist appeared to do nothing except hold various parts of my body, but at the end I was much improved. After another session the whiplash and out of body feeling were gone and I was feeling better than I had done for many years. So much better that I continued to go for sessions for many months: each session became a blissful experience - yet each time the therapist appeared to do nothing! I vowed one day to discover what was actually going on. That thought was put on the ‘back burner’ while I finished my psychotherapy training and was 'distracted' into running a NLP training company, raising a family and many other activities.
Life eventually gave me the opportunity to go on an introductory weekend of Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy run by Paul Vick of Resonance Training. The overall sense for me from the weekend was that I had ‘come home’ and that I had sufficient skills to start out on an exploration of craniosacral work. So I joined the next available training. Two years later I graduated as a practitioner, having discovered I was good at doing what that therapist was doing so many years previously, when I thought nothing was happening - how little did I know then.
All my previous work and training in personal development and well being informs my new practice to bring a place of stillness, peace, rejuvenation and healing to my work.
